My new outdoor sculpture

My sculpture is visual metaphor for the search for the knowledge represented by an apple orchard/maze with the golden apple.

Instructor: Marek Jacisin
Course description: Discover the various techniques to design and produce one of a kind and multiple low relief, clay tiles. The class will include design techniques, working on a primary sketch, transferring the image onto clay, carving and cutting the tile using an assortment of tools. Simple and more advanced decorating techniques will be introduced including the use of mold-making. In addition to their own creations, students will design and make a mural intended for outdoor installation. Use of multimedia techniques such as using lightweight concrete or epoxied polystyrene boards will be discussed. (12 classes/13 weeks)
Your course fee covers use of all clays (terra cotta, stoneware, sculpture body, porcelain), bisque firing, glazes and glaze firing up to 8,000 cu. inches of kiln space as well as 7-day access to the ceramics program and its equipment from the start date of your class to December 1st. Opportunities to exhibit your work or view the work of your fellow studio participants will be available during our Holiday Show and Sale (one of two of our biggest fundraisers for the program) on December 6 – 9th

Opening Event
from 4-7 pm
on Saturday, September 2, 2017,
at King Farm, Woodstock, Vermont
This year's artists include Mary Admasian, Ethan Ames, Barbara Bartlett, Brenna Colt, Edith Crocker, Charlet Davenport, Nera Granott Fox, Susie Gray, Rachel Gross, Margaret Jacobs, Marek Jacism, Jay Mead, Mary Mead, Murray Ngoima, Tracy Penfield, Otto Pierce, Cristina Salusti and Jeffrey Simpson.
LandARTLab, curated by Jay Mead and Meg Brazill, is an extension of SculptureFest; the two sites are connected by a walking trail.
At 5pm on September 2, a performance of "Passing," a new work choreographed by Tracy Penfield and Tamara Hurwitz-Pullman, with 7 dancers and 2 musicians will take place. "Passing" features a large wooden and knotless netted linen set by Otto Pierce and Tracy Penfield.
People are encouraged to view the sculptures, walk the land, and bring a picnic. Children are welcome. Dogs must be on a leash. Park at King Farm, 128 King Farm Road, Woodstock, Vt. (No parking on Prosper Rd.). LandARTLab is open to the public, dawn to dusk, through October.

More than fifty artists will present an extraordinary selection of ceramic work. From functional dinnerware to sculptural masterpieces, this popular exhibition has something for everyone and attracts several thousand visitors each year. It’s the perfect place to find Mother’s Day gifts! Free cups made by the exhibitors will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis during the Opening Reception on Thursday, and work is restocked throughout the weekend.
My Tiles Class at Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard ended this week. I've learned a lot in the last couple of months with my students. Preview some of the techniques in clay, plaster, concrete and chocolate.

Over the summer I worked on the Arlington Public Art project, painting of eletrical transformer box.
This project in East Arlington was a lot of fun and I got to know whole neighborhood, receiving positive feedback and hundreds of "Thank you!"
The location of the box is at the corner of Bates and Broadway in East Arlington
This set of 3 tiles is called Life's Twist and Turns. The set was exhibited at Fuller Craft Museum and Kecskemet Cultural and Conference Centre, Kecskemét, Hungary
I've designed the tiles in the Adobe Photoshop, printed it, transferred the design with the tracing paper to the top layer of the 2 stoneware slabs and cut out the pattern with the X-Acto knife. I've made a plaster mold and successfully cast the first tile.
